Kia ora! TE MANU TAUPUA: The Sentry Bird We are driven, motivated and purposeful in the way we care and treat people visiting our home, our kāinga, Tāmaki Makaurau|Auckland. One of our core values is ‘Whakamanawa’ which can be translated as; to encourage, inspire, instil confidence, reassure, stimulate, support, working from the heart and caring for the heart of others. Kaupapa: TE MANU TAUPUA Te Manu Taupua has a clear focus on delivering impact for our whānau, hapū and iwi. TMT is a social enterprise model where as an entrepreneurial business we aim to deliver commercial success and make impact in terms of uplifting the tapu and mana of our people by creating sustainable futures, aiding whānau, hapū and iwi prosperity. We partner with leaders to help them understand and enhance their identity as an Aotearoa organisation and build meaningful relationships to be able to contribute to the Maori economy globally. Our vision is clearly connected to generational success and we work to culturally empower educational providers to support tamariki in their care to identify and be proud of who they are and where they come from. We achieve this through building cultural empowerment in the organisation and its people and through delivery of specialised programmes to enhance educational outcomes. In our commercial activities we are focused on rangatahi learning the skills to be hosts to visitors of our city and take their place as Ahikaa to maintain our prescence. Our Maori heritage and identity is a source of pride for Aotearoa In 2018, Te Manu Taupua launched a tourism and hospitality enterprise that enriches the experience of visitors to Tamaki Makaurau|Auckland and provide social impact for Aotearoa. We were successful in securing the lease of the Kiosk at Maungawhau (Mt Eden) in December, 2018. Te Manu Taupua wishes to acknowledge and thank the Tūpuna Maunga Authority for their ongoing support to ensure a mutually reciprocal mana enhancing relationship. We are working together in partnership and in a way that is underpinned by our mutual commitment to the values of Maungawhau, our sacred maunga. It is an honour and a privilege for us as mana whenua to have such a significant presence where we can fulfil our responsibilities as kaitaki, to serve our sacred maunga, show unconditional manaakitanga, share mātauranga Māori and educate people, local and international visitors around the values of the maunga. WHAU REAL FRUIT ICE-CREAM Te Manu Taupua was awarded the lease for the retail sales area of the kiosk at Mangawhau and took occupancy in December, 2018.
